Producers, filmmakers and experts from the USA will give a VR course for professionals to complement the OVR17, on July 21st in Malaga.
The final of the UEFA Champions League and the last Superbowl have been the last major sporting events broadcast live with VR technology.
In the near future, the matches played by Nadal, Cristiano, Messi and other stars of the sporting world will be broadcast with this new technology, which aims to revolutionize the experience of major sport events fans through Virtual Reality.
The last edition of the Mutua Madrid Open 2017, which concluded with the victory of Rafa Nadal, had a 360 degree camera on the court. This experience will be shown and analysed for the first time in the Observatory of Virtual Reality (OVR17), which will take place on 19 and 20 July at the Polo de Contenidos Digitales of Malaga.
The course on “Virtual Reality and Audience at major sporting events” will be taught by US producers, filmmakers and experts on Friday, July 21st, as a complement to OVR17. A combination of videos and hands-on demonstrations of VR tennis production using virtual reality headsets for participants that will give them the opportunity to immerse themselves in the potential of live VR and be prepared to produce it in the future.
It will be the first time that a Virtual Reality (VR) course is held in Spain, focusing on how to engage the audience in live sporting events using RV. This course, organized by YBVR, based in San Jose (California), tries to answer many questions regarding the use of Virtual Reality and how to make the most of it in order to turn sports events into opportunities to increase the fans’ emotions and offer new experiences to the audience, by taking the viewer where it wasn’t possible before. Speakers with international prestige will share their experiences and offer their privileged vision on the current state and future of this technology.
Cristian Domínguez, Director of Photography of New Horizons VR, will introduce the basic concepts of virtual reality, especially the block diagram needed to broadcast a sport event live using this technology.
Erin Reilly, Consultant and Researcher, will explain the impact of the virtual reality experience on fans and how to measure and manage that experience in order to improve the relationship with the audience and increase their involvement.
Dirk Wallace, Director and Producer, will share his experience in broadcasting sports events live through virtual reality, where to locate the cameras, what the story line is like and how to immerse the viewer in sports action.
Constantino Villar, COO and co-founder of YBVR, will detail the technical challenges of live distribution and streaming in virtual reality, the key aspects that must be taken into account and the available technical solutions.
The company YBVR will offer attendees the opportunity to test first-hand their practical and spectacular advances on the behaviour of fans in major sporting events. The OVR17 audience will be able to have the same experiences that the US company presented at an international level in April in Las Vegas at the NAB Show, the world’s largest technology fair, which brought together 103,000 professionals.
